GP Workforce Solutions

GP Workforce Solutions provides access to a highly specialised clinical workforce and remote clinical services to parts of the NHS that need additional capacity or to address significant operational needs.

There are currently three operating models in the supply of medically trained staff (GPs) under a Licence to Attend model (removing the need for SCW Care Quality Commission registration), where staff operate to existing customer governance, policies and procedures:

  1. Ambulance services - Remote clinical assessment and triage of 111 services - Call quality audit
  2. Urgent care - Supporting out-of-hours and clinical advice
  3. Primary care - Remote GP appointments

Our service - bringing everyone together to meet the end users' needs

With end users at the heart (patients, carers, advocates), we solve the remote capacity needs of care providers by placing remote GP resource where and when it is needed most.

The problems we are working to solve

  • The increase in ambulance service uptake and growing concerns around ambulance waiting times and incidents
  • A decline in the number of GP working in the traditional way

We currently provide GP Workforce Solutions in the south of England:

South Central Ambulance Service
Providing ambulance validation for Category 3 and 4 calls (typically non-emergency or not-urgent calls) to address the backlog and enable emergency care services to be deployed for Category 1 and 2, and a Clinical Safety and Audit programme.

Herts Urgent Care
Providing urgent care services.

Burnham and Berrow Medical Centre
Recovery of a GP practice providing remote clinical services under the clinical supervision of the lead GPs within the practice.
