We are delighted to have been shortlisted in the HSJ Awards 2023. Peninsula Cancer Alliance and Somerset, Wiltshire, Avon and Gloucestershire Cancer Alliance together with SCW have been shortlisted in the Data-Driven Transformation award category. This award recognises NHS initiatives that harness the power of data to bring positive change in the delivery and planning of care, and where data sharing has made a real difference.

Project summary
Our project, the South West Prostate Cancer Dashboard, aimed to improve equitable access to high-quality diagnostics, reduce variation and improve time to diagnosis to comply with the 28-day standard. A multiple organisation collaboration resulted in a dashboard combining both clinical and operational metrics. Key achievements include developing straight-to-test MRI and introducing local anaesthetic transperineal biopsies, which are safer and better tolerated by patients. The use of local data has facilitated shared decision-making and reduction of unnecessary biopsies. The project team are working to roll out the dashboard nationally, optimising sharing of best practice and outcomes.

The award ceremony will take place on Thursday, 16 November 2023.
