Training and development

We aim to fulfil the potential of all our employees by offering a variety of on-the-job training, access to further qualifications and a well-recognised coaching and mentoring scheme.

Training and development is a key part of the Graduate Management Scheme and depending on your specific role you will have access to a wide range of programmes.

In no time at all, we'll support you to develop the technical and leadership skills you'll need to become a line manager with responsibility. This really is a general management scheme, with hands-on business training.

Training programmes

  • Corporate induction
  • Local induction
  • Action-based learning
  • Support from mentors
  • Graduate development days
  • Masterclasses
  • Attending executive management meetings
  • Managing to Inspire: SCW's in-house training and development programme
  • Formal professional qualifications e.g. Mary Seacole programme, CIPS qualifications
  • Prince II
  • Shadowing
  • Graduate Management Scheme Competency Framework

There’s also the opportunity to specialise if you find an area of the business you’re particularly interested in.

During your regular one to one's and personal development plan conversations with your careers managers, we will map your current competencies and pull together a plan for bridging skills gaps, to ultimately work towards your target job roles on completion of our two-year SCW Graduate Management Scheme.
