SCW Child Health Information Services - CHIS

We are an NHS organisation providing support services to health and care systems. We are a leading provider of Child Health Information Services (CHIS) and play a critical role in immunisation scheduling and monitoring for newborn screening.

Newborn screening notification

We notify health visitors of all new births and of children who have moved into their area and ensure all babies have received their newborn screening.

Routine immunisation appointments

We ensure that children aged between 0-5 years receive appointments at the correct age for NHS routine childhood immunisations and we monitor that school-aged children have had the immunisations they are due.

Improving uptake of immunisation

We work with maternity units, GPs, health visitors, school nurses, and local authorities to monitor and improve the uptake of national childhood screening and immunisation programmes.

A joined-up and fail-safe approach

We liaise with all of our stakeholders to capture and record all patient interventions just once at the point of contact. We then share this data digitally and securely, with all who have a legitimate reason to view them. Read more about how and why personal data is used.

This fail-safe function across health and care settings and geographical boundaries ensures that all 0-19 yr olds in the areas we cover are offered, and have received appropriate immunisations and screenings. We work together in partnership with:
  • Maternity units
  • Midwives
  • Screening laboratories
  • Health visiting teams
  • School nursing teams
  • Safeguarding teams
  • GP practices
  • Local authorities
